| It seemed a fitting start to her sixth year at Hogwarts. She had only just gotten her OWL results when the sequence of events that lead to her wands demise had begun. Still, hours later, she couldn't comprehend how it had happened. It was as if every inanimate and animate object in her home had been against her wand that morning. As if there was some sort of conspiracy to destroy her first real connection to her magic and force her to find another. Maybe the universe knew she needed something new to truly shine in her NEWTs, but she never gave much stock to those sorts of things. Korina was all about believing what she could see, what was right in front of her or at least seeking it out until it was in front of her.
It was because of some weird situation that she found herself making a quick trip to Diagon Alley without her parent's knowledge. They hadn't witnessed the event of her wand breaking and since she didn't believe they even knew what kind of wand she had had she felt she was safe sneaking off and getting a new wand. An she was certain that her parents were safely preoccupied for an least an hour more. More than that though Was she found she didn't like not having a wand that worked near her on the off change that she needed it. Korina had never come across a situation that she did, but her adventurous side seemed to concoct all kinds of situations where it would be necessary. Though none were very plausible when she have it real thought, but when was that any fun.
It was with that very pleasant thought that Korina pushed open the door to Ollivanders, happy to find it bare of customers. Maybe most people didn't like waking up early during the summer? It was the only reason she could think of to not find a single first year moping around with bright big eyes. "Hello?" she called out as she slipped inside, a smile lighting up her face briefly as she heard her voice echo. Korina stepped toward the counter and grabbed the familiar parchment, filling out her information as she waited for the shopkeeper to turn up to help her.

| Rowena was having an odd day, so odd in fact she was almost certain that someone was trying to drive her insane. Since she had woken up that morning everything was not happening as it should. Her wand had been in the living room rather than add her bed side where she left it. Her cloak had been neatly draped over one of her arm chairs instead of hung up in her closet.
She had been so confused that she had almost been late getting to her shop since she had to check every inch of her apartment for some kind of clue on what had been happening to her things, but her search had been useless. Nothing out of the ordinary was in her flat.
Though she was even more confused when she arrived at her shop to an entire wall of wand boxes scattered across the floor. Rowena had been horrified upon seeing the mess and had immediately gotten to work on cleaning up and going through to see if anything had been stolen. An by the time she had put all the boxes back she had found nothing missing, but that didn't mean that nothing had been stolen. Rowena knew that if someone was smart they would have stolen from a different shelf that didn't contain the chaos that she found. As it would take some time for her to go through everything else.
It was just as she was placing the last box in it's place that she heard the familiar door chime go off. Rowena's mood perked up slightly and she turned around, craning her neck to catch a glimpse of her new customer. The girl's hello echoed throughout the room and Rowena eagerly climbed down the ladder and headed toward the front counter. "Hello, welcome to Ollivanders!" she murmured with a warm grin before slipping onto her stool with a soft plop. "Excuse me," she replied distractedly as she pulled the girl's parchment toward her. "Will it be a new wand today or just a fix up?" Rowena asked curiously. |

| Korina jumped in surprise at how excited her soft voice sounded, but managed to keep herself from stepping back. She wasn't used to such exuberance and she didn't remember that kind of visit right before her first year either. After a few attempts at responding while she stared almost wide eyed at the woman before collecting herself. Korina stepped forward to watch as Ollivander read over her application. "A new wand, please," she replied, not sure if she was supposed to be doing anything more since the shopkeeper seemed so immersed in what she was doing. "I kind of, well no, I really broke my wand. It snapped pretty badly," she continued sheepishly, confessing her sin to the woman as some of her annoyance at herself returned full force.
How could she be so clumsy at that particular moment? She couldn't say and she had replayed the scene often enough her head where she was sure she should have been able to pin point the exact moment she made a mistake. Except no matter how many times she 'viewed' the moment it seemed so sudden and horrific. |

| "It tends to happen more often then people realize," Rowena assured with a warm smile. People always tried their best to take care of their wands, but accidents happened and there was nothing that could be done about that. She herself had had her fair share of accidents, but thankfully that only resulted in a new wand once. "I think I have the perfect wand in mind... if you would just wait here please..." she trailed off absently, her mind already running around as she went over the wands in her head that could potentially suit the girl.
An after a few seconds the wand just seemed to pop in her head. Rowena quickly slipped away, mouth moving unconsciously as she followed the directions that were imprinted in her head. She was glad that her memory was so sharp on days like these as she would rather not have to read through every wand box to find the one she was searching for. Considering that her family had never been very organized about where they placed new wand boxes. "Here we are..." she muttered to herself, easing the wand box out slowly from under two others that were precariously set. She would have to fix that shelf later when she finished dealing with Korina Winters.
After less than a minute she was back at the counter and setting the wand box down before the young girl. "Why don't you give it a whirl and see if it suits you?" she offered as she slipped into her seat, watching the girl expectantly. |
