"For fuck's sake!" Ivy yelled as she tried to magically fix a paper weight that she had just knocked off of her desk. Instead it turned to a fine dust, covering her mother's antique rug. She pointed her wand at the rug, before quickly pulling it back. It would be stupid for her to try and remove the powder from the mat with her apparently faulty wand.

She realised that she would have to go to Diagon Alley and get a new wand. Ivy exited her apartment and went to her car, thankful that she had invested in one. There was no way that she would risk getting splinched from apparating with the piece of wood that she'd thrown in frustration onto the back seat.

Arriving at the muggle side of the Leaky Cauldron, the blonde march through the pub with a nod in greeting to the barkeep. By the time she was in on the street of Diagon Alley, the woman felt as though she was going to explode.

Entering the store that sold wands, Ivy walked in with a look that said she was pissed. Looking around the shop, she sighed and let out her anger with the air. She would simply get a knew new wand, and who knows; it might suit her better than her old one.

Dropping the wand lightly on the counter top, the blonde examined it as she waited to be served. Ivy thought that the core or something had broken within the shaft of the wand, as it looked pristine on the outside.

Rowena sung softly under her breath and she worked on cleaning some of the dustier shelves higher up. Since the wand shop had been filled with students going in and out who needed new wands she had cut down on some of the settled dust, but she always hated to let it build up. So during some very convenient down time she found herself climbing ladders and wiping the surfaces with a spelled rag. She hated dusty the muggle way as she never felt the dust did anything but move to a new location.

Her way was optimal for cleaning and wouldn't make her head spin in irritation. Rowena couldn't help but smile at her mother's ingenious idea even though she was sure someone else had figured out how to fix to problem ages ago. She liked to think her mum had done it and that was that.

"I will be with you in just a moment," she called out as she slipped behind some of the shelves and into the back room. After discarding the cloth and grabbing her flats she rushed to the front counter to find a wand sitting innocently there. Rowena's focus always seemed to be drawn to the wand that it took her a moment longer to see the woman there as well. "Hello," she greeted with a warm and somewhat sheepish smile.

Rowena stepped forward as she introduced herself. "My name's Rowena, would you like me to take a look at your wand?" she asked, assuming that was why the woman had placed her wand on the counter rather then show up empty handed.

Though it wasn't difficult to simply purchase another wand, Ivy was quite upset that her wand had stopped working. She had never used another wand and nobody else had never used it either. It was strange the way that she'd bonded with a piece of wood, but she had none the less. The worst part was that the wand was from the United States so there was no way to be able to get some the same made by the same person. She hoped that the Ollivanders were as good as they have been made out to be.

Ivy was looking down at her wand when the woman appeared behind the front counter. Her eyes widened and she lifted her chin, a smile appearing on her face. "Hi Rowena, I'm Ivy. Yes, I would like it if you could take a look. It's been playing up something chronic and I have no idea whatsoever how to get it to work. I clean it regularly and it hadn't had a problem like this before?" The woman almost laughed, as she thought that it sounded a lot like she was visiting the dentist, not the wandmaker.

Rowena picked up the wand and lifted it up to eye level as she studied the wood, looking for any superficial marks that might cause the woman's wand to act up. After a quick perusal her eyes instinctively looked down to see the woman's application. Stevenson. Her immediate thought was of Gavin Stevenson and whether they were related. They had the same accent, but she didn't move to ask as it wasn't her place or business.

"When did it start acting up on you?" Rowena asked as she refocused her attention on the wand before her. She tapped the light for closer inspection and gently slid her fingertips along the would in case the mark was too tiny to see with the naked eye. "Even a person taking the best of care with their wand can still find problems at times. Some times the wands are finicky as a lot of them have their own personalities and they feed off you. If you've been very stressed or depressed lately that could lead to a temperamental wand.." she explained as she bit her lip in concentration.

Ivy sighed and shrugged, trying to think back. She knew that it hadn't been working to its fullest potential for a while, but it had only just started being so useless. "Well, the temperamental behaviour began a few months ago, but only the past few days has it been quite so bad," she said, chewing on her lower lip. She knew that she probably should have made a visit to the wandmaker some time ago, but she had been so busy and putting it off.

The woman frowned slightly and nodded as the brunette spoke. She had been somewhat stressed lately, and she hoped that that was all that was wrong. She tilted her head and said, "Well, a few months ago I made the move here from the United States with my brother. That was pretty stressful. Then I got a job at the Ministry and I'm also working at the school as a substitute. So I guess I've had a fair bit on my plate. Do you think that there might not anything physically wrong with it at all?" Perhaps she had been too rash to start getting angry with the wand. That probably hadn't helped either.

Rowena bit her lip as she listened to the woman talk about her wand troubles before sighing softly. "Well a reason it could be useless in the last few days could be related to the fact that your situation hasn't improved. Unless it has?" she questioned just to be sure since there was no way that she would know something like that without observing the woman for a few days.

"Hmm... that is quite a bit," she murmured softly at the same time she realized that Gavin and Ivy Stevenson were indeed brother and sister. It was sweet that they had chosen to make the move together, but it wasn't what she was supposed to be focused on. "Honestly, I don't see anything physically wrong with it, but I'm merely looking at it for superficial markings. You've taken very good care of it, there isn't a scratch on it that I can see. An there isn't a true test I could preform to allow me to see if anything is wrong inside as it's unlikely to happen without any outward damage. I can test a spell and then watch you do the same to compare it's reactions. If you don't mind, of course?" she asked, as she never used another person's wand without their explicit permission. It was too invasive otherwise.
